The spangle site sells inexpensive jewelry, and that's "inexpensive" as opposed to "cheap," in this case, because spangle's jewelry doesn't masquerade as items made of real gems or expensive metals. Everything spangle sells can be described as silver and/or Murano glass, both honest and straightforward materials, and that's a refreshing change from tumorous-looking fake Bulgari pieces set in a wholly incredible imitation of gold. The only catch from the spangle company's point of view is this: going in entirely for the use of silver means when that commodity rises, spangle must either raise its prices or decrease its margin. What is a bit of puzzler is the fact that spangle claims to use only silver marked with the "925 stamp of quality," which of course means the metal used must contain ninety-two point five percent pure silver. And the commodity price for silver currently stands at a fractional amount over thirty dollars US per troy ounce, meaning spangle's prices as they stand aren't making the company as much money as costume jewelry usually does for a vendor. Without actually examining a piece, it's impossible to say exactly what impression of quality spangle's inventory presents, but all the designs featured on the spangle site could be found in a tasteful local artist's shop. Those designs are in general small-scaled, when they're larger in scale they are discreetly simplified, and their overall effect is either restrained, sporty, or sometimes vaguely academic, like foreign jewelry collected and worn by an archaeologist.
