he revolution-bars site is a bit of a puzzler, because it belongs to what are definitely a number of young people's dance clubs operating as a UK chain, but it shows definite signs on its home page of catering to the serious drinker, or at least the serious drinker of vodka, because that particular liquor has a link all its own at the top of the page and every other drinkable must share the catchall Cocktails link. Certainly many of the young people who would frequent a generic set of chain dance clubs are drinkers, but in the it's-Friday-night-so-let's-get-hammered sense rather than the lover-of-fine liquor sense. The photographs displayed (model in silly "I Love Vodka" sunglasses, groups of clubbers clutching sloshing glasses, close-up of disco ball, young man wearing swimsuit bra and bemused expression) make it clear that the revolution-bars corporation aims at nothing so much as owning a flotilla of updated Studio 54s. If the bathrooms at revolution-bars are not filled with other people's drugs and indiscriminate sex, they certainly should be, because that is the atmosphere revolution-bars' home page suggests one can find there. So where does that leave the serious vodka drinker? Most likely at a serious vodka bar, that is to say, elsewhere, as revolution-bars' Vodka page makes clear. Alas, the vodka is flavored, and not by the people who distilled it but by revolution-bars. Raspberry-flavored vodka, aimed at the kiddies, will occasionally find a home in a grown-up's glass as well, but novelty flavors like revolution-bars' Love Candy (flavored, for no apparent reason, with the chalky-tasting conversation heart candies sold for Valentine's Day), go far too far in the direction of drowning the vodka rather than complementing it. But the Love Candy gives an idea of what revolution-bars is trying to accomplish with its thirty flavored vodkas: it wants to give people something to talk about while drinking.
More specifically, revolution-bars wants to facilitate the "parties" it touts as its primary target market, the groups of clubbers pictured on its home page. They can sit in revolution-bars' large circular upholstered banquettes around revolution-bars' round tables in any one of no less than sixty-three cities in the UK to drink and dance the night away under the flashing disco balls.
