Reds (Redsbarandgrill.co.uk)
The redsbarandgrill belongs to a site for an "American style" pub with food located in Wimbledon. It looks like a good-hearted sort of establishment, although it can't decide what its name should be: the logo says "Red's Grill and Bar," which would not be the correct word order in America, and the rest of the site contradicts that with "Red's Bar and Grill." In America, any restaurant bearing the latter name ideally has evolved from a greasy spoon owned by its bald, grouchy short order cook (that's "Red"). Red started serving drinks because most of his clientele stayed longer that way, and eventually formalized the change with "bar and grill." However, there is clearly no Red, no little diner, and no real history pertaining to this family restaurant, to which the name is only a name and not a description. If this place were in America, it would be part of a business like the T.G.I. Friday's restaurants, which were designed primarily to host corporate outings, personal celebrations and young families. The menu is varied, including hamburgers, steak, chicken, lamb, and even vegetarian entrees.
The entrees are all priced under thirty-six pounds, but if you review the All Day menu (must be viewed in the browser as a portable document file), you will see the offerings are so varied it will be very difficult to keep all items fresh in stock. Here are some examples of what's on offer, in terms of ingredients: Portobello mushrooms, goat cheese, red bell peppers, chicken livers, tiger prawns, chorizo, chicken squid, tapenade, Parma ham-- and that's a partial list pertaining only to the "Starters and Appetisers" section. There are no less than nine other sections on that one menu page. That is, frankly, an outrageously scattered selection, and of course one wonders how often the ingredients are shipped and replaced, not to mention how and where they are stored in the interim. Red's has tried to forestall such inquiries by promising at least "freshly prepared" food, and of course if they fulfill that promise faithfully, avoiding odd tastes and intestinal upsets, their obligations to their customers are fully met.
