monstertravel.co.uk redirects to a site called co-operativetravel.co.uk, which makes perfect sense because the monstertravel business, based in Newcastle and employing approximately one hundred people, was closed in July of 2010, after only two years of operation. Had monstertravel's owners, David Hawke and Julie Gilmore, only realized, they were choosing the perfect year not to open a travel business. monstertravel offered package tours, individually tailored holidays, and activity vacations like skiing and cruise "breaks." The Co-operative Travel, however, assumed all monstertravel's scheduled holidays and trading contracts, and has swallowed up the old business quite efficiently. That's remarkable, simply because Co-operative Travel itself did not begin life until 2007, the second worst year to start a new enterprise. However, Co-operative did not begin ab novo, but rather combined two existing businesses, Travelcare and Coop Travel, which together are represented on the co-operativetravel site. The design of the co-operativetravel site says discount travel agency, and it makes much of its cheap holiday packages, which is a very sensible approach given current frantic efforts to prop up the struggling Eurozone countries. So, UK travelers who wish to make a contribution to your fellow sufferers in Europe, why not consider going on one of co-operativetravel's "Eurozone city breaks"? It is difficult to pin down that list of selected cities, because co-operativetravel's site designers have committed the annoying faux pas of using mouseover text instead of links, but at last the mouseover gives up this information: Bruges, Brussels, Hamburg City, Lisbon, Madrid, Naples, Rome, Valencia and Vienna.
co-operativetravel devotes a whole page of detailed information to its Florida tours, although from an American standpoint it would be completely impossible to imagine why anyone from the UK, with Europe at his or her fingertips, would choose the tremendously uncultured state of Florida as a vacation spot. Yet so it is, and co-operativetravel thinks its customers will enjoy Florida's theme parks (Walt Disney, Universal, and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which is rumored to be singularly humorless) and beaches. Travel advisory: it would be wise to avoid the beaches located on the Gulf Coast, since weathered mats of BP's spilled oil have anchored on the sea bottom and continue to spoil the sands at unpredictable intervals.
