What is misscufflinks, and why is its website so dreadfully pink? There is a thick pink veil laid over what would otherwise be a page containing photographs with ordinary light-colored backgrounds, and the effect is not at all pleasing. It gives the viewer an immediate and unpleasant sense of impaired vision, in fact, and makes the text hard to read. There are four photographs featuring cufflinks, necklaces, shirts, and a scarf, so apparently misscufflinks is working both sides of the street here: sell ladies not only feminine cufflinks, but the rare long-sleeved ladies' shirts the cuffs of which will accommodate those links. That's an undeniably ingenious plan, to be sure, and to help sales along misscufflinks has taken to referring to the "increasingly popular" cuff-bearing shirts on its Facebook page, which sartorial trend exists nowhere other than in misscufflinks' admittedly fertile imagination. That is a sell on the order of Count Espinoza's famous green bowler, which was the final hoax perpetrated by Evelyn Waugh's desperate gossip columnist before putting his head in the oven, and let us hope this little exercise in harmless chicanery leads to no such grim outcome. The pictured cufflinks look attractive, as though they might be made from actual precious metals and genuine gemstones, but alas! The misscufflinks site, enmeshed in its own pink toils, has neglected to provide working details pages or large images of its jewelry, so one has no earthly idea what composes them, and only a rough idea, garnered from a tiny photo, of what they might possibly look like.
And that is a shame, because the sets of links are quite fetching from a distance. One fares better on the page featuring misscufflinks' matching sets of cufflinks and scarf, because after three clicks one does reach a functioning panel image... but unfortunately it is only a larger replica of the original, in which the scarf is unhelpfully folded and dwarfs the links arranged in its center. The earring prices (around twenty pounds) suggest the stones used by misscufflinks in making them are probably paste, although only one type of stone is identified as a "simulated" version of the precious variety.
