“Mela, The Joy of Indian Dining” is decreed on the home page, a bright pink sari of food appreciation. Indian cuisine is firmly established in Britain, having been a fixture of local life for many years. The influx of Pakistanis and natives of the Indian sub-continent has resulted in a wealth of culinary blessings apparently enjoyed by a majority of the British people.
Mela has two locations: one on Shaftesbury Avenue in Soho’s theatre district, and the second in Redhill. Proud of their reputation, Reviews and Awards are prominently featured via a tab on the home page (including quotes from both Andrew Lloyd Webber and Drew Barrymore; in fact, Webber’s quote is the first thing you see after the restaurant’s name). A separate box tells the website visitor that Mela has been chosen as Moet and Chandon’s Indian Restaurant of the Year and a Regional Winner in the Archant Food and Drink Awards. They seem determined to adhere to their success as evidenced on the home page. And yet another page trumpets the prestigious special events which have taken place at Mela.
Special Offers are presented under another tab, including such enticements as free wine, 2 for 1 cinema tickets, and a 50% discount off your next food bill. You may also book reservations easily from this page. It’s probably wise to check back on these offers when booking, and it’s suggested that you find out about the 50% discount offer because terms and conditions will apply. The free wine voucher is downloadable and printable directly from the website-- simply print it out, fill it in, and take it along!

This is an easy website to negotiate, save for quickly finding the menus for each of the two locations. That’s not a big deal, however; devotees of Indian cuisine will brook no barriers when hunting down favorite dishes, and seeing what’s listed, and how much it costs, will not present a daunting challenge at all.
