Do not be deceived by the name, hopeful gardeners, because this site sells cosmetics, hair and skin care products. So except for that group of plants called "botanicals" the extracts and derivatives of which are used in such products, there are no gardening items to be found here. However, the garden site can hardly help using that name, since it belongs to the Garden store ("Pharmacy, Perfumery") located on Long Acre in Covent Garden, appropriately enough. There is absolutely no way to criticize the garden site's inventory, either, because it really does feature only the best in show. Some of garden's brands are Acqua di Parma (yes, the original Italian cologne dating back to 1916), Chanel, Dior, Lancome, and Roger & Gallet. Not only are those names excellent today, but they have a history of excellence, and any retailer like garden depending on them has a solid foundation. The garden site is much like the physical store, with fine products, very helpful staff, and presenting an appealing visual impression (not too slick, not elegant, but charming). The website focuses on the beauty items, but it's important to remember the Garden store has a real live dispensing chemist for making up prescriptions. Customer reviews of the Garden store and the site often mention the fine array of perfumes, adding that there's more individuality to be found in this business than one can find in the many similar Boots stores that carry the same type of stock.
The "jolly man" one customer remembers from the Garden store is named Harry Ganz, who is listed in various locations as "Managing Director," "director in charge of security" for the garden site, and the store's "Superintendent Pharmacist." A very versatile man is Mr. Ganz, and one can deduce he also owns the business, because only thus could he wear so many hats. Mr. Ganz is also a shrewd businessman, evidently, because he has managed to position a good-sized advertisement for the garden site within another website's material on web marketing. Ganz distinguished himself in setting up his web affiliate network by paying double the industry average in commissions on each sale an affiliate generates, and his strategy paid off handsomely in increased traffic.
